About The Active Evaluator

My name is James Ong, and I am The Active Evaluator (formerly The Active Scientist). Having graduated with a PhD in immunology, I switched careers to program evaluation in order to make a more immediate impact to society. As a program evaluator, I work with different organisations to provide advice and evaluation results so that they can improve their programs and build an evidence base behind their work. I have 10 years’ experience in planning and running program evaluations, collecting and summarising survey data and conducting interviews with different stakeholders. I also possess strong research skills and am a quick learner. I can quickly familiarise myself with the programs I am evaluating and independently learn new evaluation frameworks and techniques.

In The Active Evaluator blog, I would like to build a portfolio of work showcasing my evaluation knowledge and skills, as well as my data and policy analysis skills. At the same time, I would like to provide knowledge that will help people. This will be done by doing side-projects where I can provide information and personal stories on areas that interest me. These side-projects will be presented as blog posts on The Active Evaluator.

I hope that by visiting The Active Evaluator, you will learn things that will be helpful to your work and to your life. The blog post on The Active Evaluator rebrand.
